A Story on Nyepi

QUESTION:

Hello, I am interested in interviewing you for a story on “nyepi”. I would be much obliged if you can answer the following questions:

1. Why is climate change so important to you, as a Balinese, and to all Balinese?
2. How will climate change affect your country and your home?
3. Have you seen for yourself how climate change has affected your home?
4. You say that Balinese used to celebrate the Saka New Year. Do you mean that many don’t celebrate this today?

ANSWER:

1. Because most of us are farmer, or fisher, or has another job that verry close to the negative affect of climate change. We worry too with our planet, that created by God for human. We feel doing a great sin if we destroy the universe.
2. About healthyness, bad crops, lack of foods, etc you know this
3. Of course, in my region 18 river has allready without any water. Two of our lake get smaller since last 5 year.
4. No, I mean: use to celebrate, thus we celebrate it till now and forever
